Lightweight. High strength. Unstoppable. The STAR for sailors who want more.
Happy Cat Star
HAPPY CAT STAR
NEXT-LEVEL SAILING FUN
The HAPPY CAT STAR offers great sailing fun at the highest level. It is based on the premium STAR CARBON model and comes with the same features and smart design. Instead of carbon, it uses a high-quality aluminum frame and mast. This gives you almost the same performance but costs about 40% less.
The newly developed special profiles and many improvements make the STAR lighter, stronger, and even more practical than its predecessors. Whether you’re an ambitious beginner or an experienced sailor, the HAPPY CAT STAR combines modern technology, top performance, and fair costs in perfect balance.

The boat
What makes the STAR special:
- Lighter than ever: Optimized frame and mast profiles make it 5 kg lighter than the EVOLUTION and 11 kg lighter than the HURRICANE.
- Maximum stability: New bowsprit stays increase stiffness for safe sailing fun – every gust of wind is turned into strong forward power right away.
- Smart details: Many improvements make setup easier and handling better.
- Extensive standard equipment: Reinforcing bow braces + crossbar, kick-up rudder with extended rudder holder, telescoping tiller extension, 11.5 m² sail area, wave-piercing hulls, mast base joint, centerboard quick adapter, endless jib furler, 4:1 mainsheet.
- Improved accessories: Reinforced foredeck, slip wheels with automatic locking, motor mount for short-shaft motors, two-part rear deck.
FLEXIBLE TRANSPORT
The HAPPY CAT STAR comes in four handy bags – perfect for easy transport and compact storage:
2 long rolling bags (185 × 30 × 30 cm)
For the four frame parts, trampoline fabric, four mast sections, two reinforcing bow braces, the crossbar, centerboard, rudder, and small parts.
Weight per bag: about 28 kg (including the bag)
1 sail bag (180 × 30 cm)
Provides optimal protection for the jib and mainsail.
Weight: about 6 kg
1 Pack-sack (80 × 45 × 28 cm)
For the two inflatable hulls and optional accessories like seat cushions or a masthead float.
Weight: about 18 kg
This well-thought-out packing solution makes transport very flexible: all bags fit easily into common mid-sized cars or campers – no trailer or special equipment needed.
At home, the compact bags can be stored space-saving in the garage, garden shed, basement, or attic – giving you full freedom without storage stress.

FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Plenty of Space for Everyone
The STAR offers remarkable space: It comfortably accommodates up to four people, making it ideal for shared sailing adventures with family or friends. The flat frame and hulls can both be used for sitting. Optional seat cushions add extra comfort and make longer trips even more enjoyable.
The optional foredeck adds extra space: It expands the usable area by about one third. Thanks to the strong crossbar and side reinforcing bow braces, it’s strong enough to sit, lie, or even stand on without any problem.

CUTTING-EDGE HULL DESIGN
The convex wave-piercing hulls, measuring 480 cm in length, were developed in towing tank tests to minimize spray and maximize speed. The slightly curved underside ensures particularly low resistance, while the pointed bow shape cuts effortlessly through waves and slows down significantly less than classic, curved tubes. In addition, the bow shape provides more buoyancy for additional payload on the foredeck. The optimized stern curves dynamically to a point and improves water separation.
The result: even in light winds, the catamaran sails effortlessly. In stronger winds, average speeds can be up to 30% higher. The maximum speed is over 16 knots or 30 km/h.
The hulls are made from tried-and-tested Grabner car tire rubber, which is particularly durable. With proper care, it will last for decades and is just as easy to repair as a bicycle tube. What's more, the genuine rubber boat skin is free from harmful PVC and phthalate plasticizers, making it more environmentally friendly.

BOW REINFORCEMENT
Stiffer hulls – more speed
Strong reinforcing bow braces support the bow area and keep the hulls flat in the water when there are waves. This makes the boat glide more easily because there is less water resistance. The new assembly is particularly simple: attach the cross bar, hook in the pelican hook, and you're done!

FOREDECK
More space, more possibilities
and side reinforcements with a crossbar and reinforcing bow braces, it is so stable that adults can lie, sit, and even stand on it. This is particularly practical when getting in and out via the bow, for sunbathing, or for safely stowing luggage.
The front pocket offers space for two 128 cm paddles. Two foredeck nets can be attached to numerous strap loops on the left and right, ideal for stowing lines, life jackets, or other equipment. Alternatively, up to two custom-made 53-liter foredeck bags with waterproof zippers can be attached.

FRAME WITH HIGH-TECH CORNERS
The newly developed frame profile with integrated groove allows for easy insertion and tensioning of the trampoline fabric with quick-fasteners. It is 30% lighter than the frame profile of the EVOLUTION / HURRICANE (7 kg lighter frame).
The corner parts are manufactured from a single piece without welded seams using a modern 5-axis CNC process. This makes them particularly lightweight, precisely adapted to the shape of the hull, and enables effortless installation of the rubber slot in sockets.
The square plug connections offer maximum stability and prevent the frame from twisting.

2-PIECE REAR-DECK AND MOTOR MOUNT
Versatile applications
The optional rear-deck extends the stern area and provides space for light gear. Small items like shoes, water bottles, or ropes are securely stored under the fine mesh net, while larger equipment like tents or sleeping bags can be fixed with strap loops. Two rear-decks can be mounted on either side of the rudder.
The motor bracket is attached to reinforced holes in the frame using quick-release fasteners and is optimized for light wind motors up to 3 HP and 22 kg. The mount can be installed for both short-shaft motors (with the short end up) and long-shaft motors (with the long end up). When sailing, the motor is barely noticeable as it is offset to the rear.
Rear-deck, motor mount, and slip wheels can be mounted simultaneously without interfering with each other.

LONG CENTERBOARD
Increased upwind performance
The long centerboard reaches deep into the water and minimizes lateral drift. Sail higher, drift less! The durable aluminum blade automatically releases upon ground contact and can be fully raised when landing.
Thanks to the newly developed quick adapter, the centerboard can be attached to the frame in just a few seconds. This makes setup enjoyable! When packing, it fits flat and compactly into the bags.

KICK-UP RUDDER
Smooth as on rails
The rudder, positioned far at the back, allows for precise steering with minimal effort – almost like servo-assisted steering. The catamaran glides smoothly as if on rails, while the rear-positioned rudder makes tacking easier. Additionally, the tiller doesn’t interfere with the trampoline frame area.
The rudder can be raised or lowered conveniently via the tiller with two locking positions: fully lowered or fully raised. Upon ground contact, the durable aluminum blade automatically releases.
The rudder extension arm is secured quickly and securely with two quick-release fasteners in reinforced holes on the frame.

NEWLY DEVELOPED RIG
Stability and lightness
The rig of the STAR has been completely redesigned. The four-part aluminium mast is now more stable, lighter and features numerous improvements. Among other things, it floats for a short time under certain conditions and does not capsize immediately.
New mast profile with customised connectors
The newly designed, generously dimensioned oval mast profile ensures high stability and safety.
Custom-made plug connections with minimal tolerances make the mast almost watertight – it floats for a short time in the event of capsizing, so that it can be righted by one person alone.
(Note: The mast will fill with water if it is in contact with water for a longer period of time.)
Greater stability thanks to 4-point bowsprit tensioning
The optimised 4-point tensioning of the bowsprit increases the overall stability of the rig and also provides additional safety. Wind gusts are converted directly and efficiently into propulsion.
New shroud positions
The position of the double shrouds has been adjusted to the new mast profile to ensure ideal mast bend. This keeps the mainsail optimally shaped at all times – for maximum propulsion in all wind conditions. An additional forestay secures the mast independently of the foresail. This means that the sails can be completely removed during longer periods of inactivity without having to take down the mast.
Noticeable lightness
The new aluminium mast is 20% lighter than the mast on the EVOLUTION / HURRICANE models – that's a weight saving of about 2.2 kg. Together with the sails, which are about 1 kg lighter, this results in a sailing rig that is over 3 kg lighter.
This not only makes transport easier, but also makes it easier to set up the mast during assembly and to right the boat after capsizing.
New groove – easier sail setting
The newly designed groove makes it particularly easy to hoist the mainsail. The sail is pulled into the keder rail of the rotating mast in a form-fitting manner, so that the mast and sail form a single unit and ensure optimum propulsion.

11.50 m² SAIL AREA
MORE PERFORMANCE
The proven sail area of 11.50 m² provides noticeably more propulsion – even in light winds or when fully loaded.
Square Head mainsail
The battened 8 m² mainsail is cut wider at the top to deliver maximum performance even in light winds.
Thanks to the boomless design, the usable sail area is additionally increased at the bottom. This reduces drag, prevents head injuries and increases comfort and safety on board.
Efficient foresail
The 3.5 m² jib perfectly complements the mainsail. A large, reinforced window offers excellent all-round visibility – for greater awareness and safety.
The optimally positioned clew points enable high close-hauled courses and ensure optimum propulsion even when sailing half-wind.
The endless jib furler allows quick and smooth furling and unfurling – comfortable, efficient and reliable.
Handle with care
Dacron sails are sensitive to creasing and should therefore always be stored rolled up. It is best to roll the mainsail and foresail together – this provides optimum protection during transport.

JIB HALYARD PULLEY
Ideal rig tension
With the jib halyard pulley, you can easily tension the entire rig by hand. You can check the ideal rig tension when the luff of the jib cannot be moved more than a hand's width to the side. This makes it easy to achieve the perfect tension for maximum performance.

TRAVELLER AND TRIMMING
Extended Trimming Options
- Traveller: Adjust the hoist point of the mainsheet flexibly by moving the traveller towards the windward or leeward side, depending on the course. Whether reaching, downwind, or close-hauled: By influencing the "twist" of the mainsail, the performance is efficiently increased.
- Clew board: Adjust the mainsail profile to the wind conditions by hanging the mainsheet further forward on the clew board in strong winds or further back in light winds - for a bellied or flat sail profile.
- Mainsheet: With the 4:1 ratio, the mainsail can be easily controlled by hand, even in strong winds.
